What is Wood Badge Training? Wood Badge Training is the highest training that the Boy Scouts of America has to offer their adult leaders. National explains it best: "Wood Badge is an exciting, action-packed program designed for councils to provide adult members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their Scouting positions and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others." Who should attend Wood Badge Training? If you interact with the scouting world as a leader, a COR, primary presidency, merit badge counselor, ANYTHING - you are qualified and will benefit from attending Wood Badge Training. If you have nothing to do with scouting at present and would like to attend (yes, we have those requests) simply contact me and we will work with you. When and Where is Wood Badge Training? This year's Wood Badge training course is offered as the weekend course, but please note that it is actually two weekends, because the standard course takes a week. It will take place Oct 13-15 & Oct 20 -22 at Camp Murtaugh. Yes, both weekends are required to complete the training. Why should I attend Wood Badge Training? I know that taking a week off of "life" is a huge sacrifice (in this case, two weekends). Whether it is from work and commitments, or family and kids - it is hard to arrange everything for while you are gone. Nobody knows this more that our staff of 15, we have all taken that scary step and committed to the training, and having completed our training, are now willing to make the same sacrifice again so that others may have the opportunity to attend this special training. Wood Badge is an excellent opportunity to not only refresh yourself in the skills that are required to lead and work with other people (and scouts), but it is also a prime opportunity to set some worthwhile and meaningful goals. While in the process, we can not leave out the obvious element of FUN that naturally occurs when you place a bunch of overgrown kids together in a scouting atmosphere!! Please put some serious consideration into joining us this year for the Snake River Council's Wood Badge Training!!
